This is white supremacist asshole that shot and killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin because he looked “suspicious.” In other words, he was a black kid walking to the 7-eleven. In this fucked up country, all you have to be is black to killed or criminalized by these racist bastards.
Oh, and btw, they still haven’t arrested this asshole. Why? Because it’s perfectly legal kill black men in this fucked up country. See Sean Bell, Oscar Grant, Troy Davis, Joetavius Stafford, Raymond Robair, James Lennox, Timothy Thomas, Adam Wheeler, and the countless others.

GOP Uses Racism to Win the White House

“As Iowa demonstrated, be it Gingrich’s yearning to have lazy black and brown kids pick up mops and brooms as janitors in work houses, Romney’s nativist Klan inspired opines to keep “America America,” Santorum’s appeals to a belief that African Americans find sustenance by stealing from hardworking white people, or Ron Paul’s assertion that the Civil Rights Act (with its bringing down of Jim and Jane Crow) was an unfair intrusion on white people’s “liberty” and “freedom,” the Tea Party GOP remains addicted to the crack rock of dog whistle politics.

Decades after the founding of the Southern Strategy in the 1960s, the old school remains the true school. Ultimately for conservativesdemagoguing the negroes can still help stir up support among the white populist faithful.”

This is the most concise post I’ve seen illuminating on the racism of the (current candidates of the) GOP. Even looking at conservative televangelists, or Fox News anchors could give you even MORE examples.

Conservative = pro-white man and anti everybody else. Period.

I know people get all upset when you say that all Republicans are anything less than the portrait of tolerance but can you name me a single Republican platform or plan where the majority of people it benefits aren’t rich, white, male, or heterosexual?

For the record, Mr. Christie…not everyone was lucky enough to be born in swanky, entitled Palo Alto like you were.  Not everyone has the wealthy Peninsula connections that you have, and in fact…almost 25 percent of the male African-American population is being actively disenfranchised by the people who sign your checks.
You are being used by a racist political party to provide them with cover for their racist deeds…an act which so glaringly obvious that I have to believe you are in on it.

On January 12, 2010, one day after his 18th birthday, CAPA High School honors student Jordan Trent Miles was ambushed by three plain clothes Pittsburgh police officers, who failed to identify themselves and approached him aggressively. The officers did not say “Stop! Police!”, they jumped out of an unmarked vehicle, one of them yelling “Where’s your money? Where’s the drugs? Where’s the gun?” Miles, never before in trouble with the police and thinking he was being robbed, began to run, and slipped on the icy sidewalk. The officers overtook Miles and administered a brutal beating that left him unrecognizable, ripping dreadlocks out of his head, and continuing to beat him as he lay on the ground after their initial assault, stammering the Lord’s Prayer. There can be no explaining away or excusing what was done to Miles.

The police officers lied about what happened, claiming there was a bulge in his pocket they assumed was a gun but “turned out to be a Mountain Dew bottle”. No bottle was ever entered into evidence, and Jordan and his friends will tell you he doesn’t even drink the soda. The officers also attempted to claim a neighbor reported him as a prowler and attempted to bring assault charges against Miles, which were tossed out of court when the neighbor said she did no such thing. Despite all this, the City of Pittsburgh went on to reward these violent officers with a commendation and, during their suspension, paid them more than they earned while working. Meanwhile, the Pittsburgh DA has not brought charges and the Justice Department announced on May 4th, 2011 that it would not prosecute the three officers. The mayor and police chief announced on May 5th that the three officers would be returning to work.

“I feel that my son was racially profiled,” Terez Miles said. “It’s a rough neighborhood; it was after dark. … They assumed he was up to no good because he’s black. My son, he knows nothing about the streets at all. He’s had a very sheltered life, he’s very quiet, he doesn’t know police officers sit in cars and stalk people like that.”

furtherlightandtruth asked: Hi. Your cartoon about race relations has a fundamentally racist message: that somehow past racism justifies racism today. As for the argument that "whites in America today still benefit from 'white privilege.'" FYI, my grandparents were impoverished and uneducated immigrants from Europe and the Middle East. My parents grew up poor, and I grew up working class. The way to fix Affirmative Action is to make it NEED-based instead of RACE-based. Fortunately for me, some colleges do this :-)

^^^^^ This is the problem with race relations today. So many privileged folks think they know something about racism today, and they haven’t read a single book, and they refuse to listen to any person of color on the issue. It’s all about whatever non-sense, non-facts they can vomit up.

The problem with the conversation around affirmative action today is white folks, and many others, actually think black folks are somehow now getting preferential treatment because of it. The fact is: most of the affirmative action laws were stripped of their power during the Reagan error.

Today, there’s no serious retribution for schools or companies if they aren’t serious about diversity. And here’s another news flash: affirmative action has existed for white folks for the past 500 years. First, it was called chattel slavery, then it was called Jim Crow and apartheid.

And even today, colleges have affirmative action for white folks. They have policies like: if your grandfather went to this school then you have a better chance of getting in. Hmm, my grandfather was considered a monkey that didn’t deserve to go to the same schools as white folks, so because of racism there’s no chance of that policy working for me.

Yet little to no white folks recognize this. And they can vomit up these “my family pulled ourselves up by our bootstraps” stories. Well my family were told that bootstraps were for whites only.

Reverse Racism: One of those non-sense terms white people made up to try to equalized the effects of racism.

Racism = Racial Prejudice + Power. It’s a structural norm of white preferential treatment (or white supremacy) in various institutions.

Bootstraps and racism.

That’s a sucky analogy. I guess it’s supporting affirmative action? Look, the people still riding the success their ancestors had during the slavery period (they’re ever thinning) would have an advantage whether we had affirmative action or not. Affirmative action targets the borderline applicants to colleges and jobs…and favors minorities. Those with the unfair step aren’t borderline. The applicants are on equal ground and do have equal opportunity. Yet the minority gets preference. Still reverse discrimination.

Uhhhhhhhh… white people are riding on the privilege left over from slavery and extreme racism.
Affirmative action seeks to even out the playing field: because of racist and impacts still felt from racist laws, racial minorities are often in lower socioeconomic groups than white people. Being in a lower socioeconomic group often means living in worse neighborhoods and going to worse schools. Racial inequalities are not over, and denying their existence will only perpetuate their existence.

No offense. But I’m more or a minority in todays society than most african americans and women. Because I’m a 20-something white male I get passed over for jobs sometimes based solely on my skin color because of affirmative action. Now obviously there’s still parts of the world out there where these minorities are still on bottom but those are few and far between. I mean come the fuck on. We’ve got an african american president. So I think it’s time to drop the whole woe is me thing. Not to mention Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcom X would roll over in there graves if they saw the way most african americans acted. Yeah, you can blame that partly on the educational system in lower income areas. But I don’t see many rappers spreading there wealth around to help inner-city african americans realize there true potential. Instead they spew shit about bitches and hoes and making that green. It’s no surpirse why most inner-city african americans act they way they act. Look at the people they idolize.

Damn. White privilege rarely recognizes itself. White folks that do recognize privilege are smart enough, and humble enough, to listen to people of color about racism and its effects instead of assuming they know what’s going on. The folks above commenting against affirmative action obviously haven’t listened to the realities of people of color on the subject.

you are a white supremacist, because you think the fee-fees of whites are so fucking important that you need to derail the conversation pertaining to an innocent man being put to death by the state in order to make sure that whites aren’t harmed by HAVING THEIR FUCKING FEELINGS…

Message from Troy Davis: 'Never Stop Fighting For Justice'

takeactionunite:

fuckyeahmarxismleninism:

Troy was found guilty of murdering a police officer 19 years ago, based upon the testimony of 9 witnesses. Today, 7 of those 9 have recanted their testimony entirely, and there are enormous problems with the testimony of the remaining 2 witness accounts. There is NO OTHER EVIDENCE. The murder weapon was never found. There is no DNA to test. Troy is scheduled to die by lethal injection on September 21, 2011.

A message from Troy Anthony Davis
September 10, 2011

To All:

I want to thank all of you for your efforts and dedication to Human Rights and Human Kindness, in the past year I have experienced such emotion, joy, sadness and never ending faith. It is because of all of you that I am alive today, as I look at my sister Martina I am marveled by the love she has for me and of course I worry about her and her health, but as she tells me she is the eldest and she will not back down from this fight to save my life and prove to the world that I am innocent of this terrible crime.

As I look at my mail from across the globe, from places I have never ever dreamed I would know about and people speaking languages and expressing cultures and religions I could only hope to one day see first hand. I am humbled by the emotion that fills my heart with overwhelming, overflowing Joy. I can’t even explain the insurgence of emotion I feel when I try to express the strength I draw from you all, it compounds my faith and it shows me yet again that this is not a case about the death penalty, this is not a case about Troy Davis, this is a case about Justice and the Human Spirit to see Justice prevail.

I cannot answer all of your letters but I do read them all, I cannot see you all but I can imagine your faces, I cannot hear you speak but your letters take me to the far reaches of the world, I cannot touch you physically but I feel your warmth everyday I exist.

So Thank you and remember I am in a place where execution can only destroy your physical form but because of my faith in God, my family and all of you I have been spiritually free for some time and no matter what happens in the days, weeks to come, this Movement to end the death penalty, to seek true justice, to expose a system that fails to protect the innocent must be accelerated. There are so many more Troy Davis’. This fight to end the death penalty is not won or lost through me but through our strength to move forward and save every innocent person in captivity around the globe. We need to dismantle this Unjust system city by city, state by state and country by country.

I can’t wait to Stand with you, no matter if that is in physical or spiritual form, I will one day be announcing,

“I AM TROY DAVIS, and I AM FREE!”

Never Stop Fighting for Justice and We will Win!

What we did is, we made up 5000 resumes: on half of them we put an African American name, on half of them we put a white name. Otherwise, the resumes were exactly the same. Then we sent them out. Which got called back more? What we found was that the same resume, when it had an African American name, was 33% less likely to get an interview than when it had a white name. So if a white person is searching for a job for ten weeks, an equivalently skilled African American person will be searching for fifteen weeks. Those are five long weeks if you’re unemployed.
